Chuncheon Hanmaum church is currently being heralded over 20 times through TV, magazines, and newspapers after being under concentrated lightening by so called ‘world’ press fist other than Christianity press, and is being mentioned as ‘church recovering the essence of initial church’, ‘model of genuine church’. Chuncheon Hanmaeum church, located in Kangwondo Chuncheon dongmyeon janghakli, is seemingly a mere plain and frugal church. The chapel made by cow house is near the container box or military barrack rather than the church. However, About 1,300 saints come to this cow house church from all across the country every week. Theses days, there are no place to put one’s feet at the chapel on Sunday worship because external persons who heard the rumor come. They as one confess that their lives entirely changed due to the gospel obtained through pastor Seong-Ro Kim and Chunchoen Hanmaeum church.
Mr. Moon(43) who was a member of gangster and suffered from drug addiction thoroughly repented and changed his life after being connected to Chuncheon Hanmaeum church through his wife. He cleared 20-year gangster life and entirely stopped the drug. He is presently raising his happy family with his wife and daughter working as a driver of institute. Mr. Choi(24), a serious game addict changed his life by 180-degree after meeting Chuncheon Hanmaeum church and is now acting as a ‘game addiction prevention instructor’ helping adolescents falling into game addiction through about 20-times big and small game addiction prevention special lecture, welfare TV, and CTS Christianity broadcasting. The life only for oneself is changing into the life which loves and serves jesus and neighbors.
Hyeon-Suk Choi, a captain of U-20 women soccer national team and a saint of Chuncheon Hanmaum church, introduced Seoul Daekwang high shcool’s chapel worship a few days ago. She introduced reviving Jesus she met to about 800 male students without any palpitation. She boldly said “I was confident the gospel that changed me would be able to change them too”. Most players of Hangyang women soccer team and U-20 women national team changed by the gospel and now, she is doing a gospel dissemination activity as much as pastors do while pioneering the small churches wherever she goes.
The biggest feature of Chuncheon Hanmaum church is that all saints not a few ones experience the moral change and are practicing that lives. On this, a professor Yeong-Cheol Park, global authority of Sel church, evaluated that “Chuncheon Hanmaeum church is a model of New Testment church and a church suggesting a desirable church image today’s churches have to follow”. A pastor Seong-Ro Kim said “they have power because they are a community established by gospel not out-standing minority”. He, who started late ministry by accepting ordainment in age of 48 after quitting his teaching job, has accomplished the community like now through numerous trial and errer until now while asking a question that “Why does the man not change?”. He replied “What established such community is only a ability of gospel.”
“I have agonized about reason why man does not change for 20 years and I found the answer was in the gospel. I was very surprised to know through Acts of Apostles that the initial church only had ‘resurrection’ and ‘history of Holy Spirit’. I realized that there was a limit for man to change because the faith in this era only stayed at the cross and overlooked the revival.”
He said that the genuine change, which serve Jesus as a genuine master through the gospel of revival, began to happen from himself and Chuncheon Hanmaeum church. And now numerous internal and external organizations are inviting him to hear the gospel of revival he preaches. Pastor Kim enthusiastically preached the gospel of revival being invited into domestic rallies such as Sedaero church, Saengmyeongsam church, Blessing saemteo church, Chogoypa associated rally, ‘in front of gospel again’, Baptist church pastor’s children image seminar and overseas rallies such as CMI 2011 held in Sydney in Australia, Sanctification contest in Chiangmai in Thailand, FMB JAPAN missionary contest. Like this, he, whose practice of social contribution through the gospel was admitted, was awarded the ‘2011 Korean service sharing grand prize’ on last 23th, November.
Nowdays, Chuncheon Hanmaum church is receiving attention as a model of a church recovering the genuine church character, a church recovering the genuine essence of Christianity although it is raw and rough in the age when churches, which have to assume the affair of purifying society following Jesus’s will who referred to church as ‘light and salt for the world’, are gradually going bad as the one of the social corruptions. I expect the Chuncheon Hanmaum church to excellently do a role fo genuine light and salt in this confusing modern society from now.
