The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the Greatest News in the World
The Gospel, that Jesus died for our sins and raised again, according to the Bible, and has forgiven all of our sins, is the greatest news in the world.
- 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
God has given proof that all men can believe by the sign of Resurrection that was prophesied in the Bible.
- Acts 17:30-31 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.
- Matthew 12:39-40 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Resurrection is proof we can believe that Jesus is God the creator who came to earth according to the prophesies in the Bible and that He is our Lord.
- Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
- Romans 1:4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
- John 2:22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
- John 20:27-28 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Resurrection is proof that God has forgiven all of our sins through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Isaiah 14:12-14 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”
- Genesis 3:5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
- Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned
- Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
- 1 Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
In this way, God has forgiven all of our sins through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and has given proof that everyone can believe.
Therefore, now the sin the Holy Spirit convicts the world of is the Sin of not believing in Jesus Christ.
- John 16:7-9 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me.
You can be saved when you repent the Sin of not believing in Jesus and believe in Him as your Lord.
- Mark 1:15 The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news.”
If you do not repent your sin of not believing in Jesus, you will receive the judgment of justice and fall into Hell (Acts 17:30-31).
First, you can receive salvation when you “repent” the sin of not believing in Jesus.
- 2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
- Acts 11:18 When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.
- Luke 24:46-47 He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
- Acts 2:36-38 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Secondly, you can receive salvation when you believe Jesus as your Lord.
- Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Thirdly, receiving salvation by repenting and believing in Jesus as Lord means you receive salvation not by works, but by faith.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.
Being saved by repenting and believing in Jesus as Lord is changing the Lord in the center of your heart.
- Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved
Repent your sin of not believing in Jesus and receive the blessing of the forgiveness of sins by believing in Jesus as your Lord.
Amen.
